The Beginning


It all started with a first-generation Bengali entrepreneur coming into the foray, not with the dream of offering a fine-dining experience, but the idea to serve simple essential meals, a home cuisine away from home, to the Bengalis, Oriyas, Assamese and wide cross-section of Eastern and North-Eastern Indians,whoever indulges in the nostalgia of abundant sweet-water fishes, wide variety of vegetable preparations and mouth-watering sweet dishes.

Thus “Fish & Sweets” came into existence in 2002 as a single outlet, and finally culminated into what we see today as “Bangaliana”, with its 5 outlets in Bangalore alone and 1restaurant recently opened in Goa. It not only meets the culinary needs of the people, but also serves as the ideal meeting ground – for friends, families, near & dear ones.

Initially, Bangaliana’s vision was to provide an authentic, home-style Bengali cuisine to the diaspora of people who crave it. People from West Bengal, Odhisa, Assam and other North-Eastern states, who share similar food habits and are residing outside their home states, should not have to miss out on their grandmothers’ recipes. Gradually, through the goodwill and good reviews from everyday customers, the gourmand, food-loving people of Bangalore warmed up to the idea of a no-fuss, efficient eatery serving traditional home-style Bengali food. In recent times, people from all sections of life in Bangalore are a part of Bangaliana’s regular client-base.

Bangaliana also serves few continental dishes, mainly baked, steamed and grilled, comprising of fish, chicken, mutton & veggies, to the esteemed customers based in Bangalore.
